I got a call from Judy and she said “I am at the St. Regis Hotel and I’m being beaten up right now.” I said “Oh, My God!” So my ex-wife said “Call, Frank!” He was down in Florida. I told him the situation. I was going right on stage, it’s my opening night. I said “Judy Garland is in trouble at the St. Regis.” He said “I’ll call you back in fifteen minutes.” And in twelve minutes Judy called me back up and she said “I have about five hundred policemen outside the hotel and five jewish lawyers in my suite. I’ve asked for help… but this ridiculous!” And Sinatra called me back up in fifteen minutes and he said “Is that alright, Kid?” -Tony Bennett
